FAQ
Automobile and motorcycle transmission belts
Is there a specific direction to install the belt?
Raw Edge V-belts and V-ribbed Belts are not specified in which direction they are to be installed, but some Timing Belts and Variable Speed Belts are specified.
Is the Cogged V-belt an engaged transmission?
It is not an engaged type. This is a friction transmission type that transmits power by the side of the belt.
Is there a problem with the thread fraying on the back of the belt?
There is no problem.
Some Star Fit™ have different length markings from the genuine ones. Is there any problem with the fit?
Due to differences in belt manufacturers' concepts, some products may have different length markings, but this does not affect the fit.
What is Star Fit™? Is it a different product from a V-ribbed belt?
Star Fit™ is a special V-ribbed belt for specific engines in which the pulleys do not move.It is made of a different material from standard V-ribbed belts. It is possible to install and use this belt without moving the pulleys while maintaining the proper tension.
Are cracks a sign of belt replacement?
Cracks are a sign of belt replacement. The standard time for belt replacement depends on the material of the rubber. By changing the rubber material from CR to EPDM, cracking is less likely to occur, but abrasion still occurs. Abrasion condition should also be used as a replacement guideline.
The belt has broken and come apart. What are the possible causes?
It may be due to progressive abrasion of the belt. As the belt abrasion progresses, the belt may break.
